Die Windmühle De Adriaan ist auf einem Teil der Stadtmauer/Tor gebaut. Diese Mühle ist nicht zufällig so hoch gebaut. Um genügend Wind in einer Umgebung mit vielen Wohnhäusern einfangen zu können, musste die Mühle buchstäblich darüber hinausragen.
