Im Jahr 1928 beschlossen einige Notabelen in Voorburg, einen Tennispark mit sechs Tennisplätzen zu gründen. Dazu öffnete die C.V. Gesellschaft zur Ausbeutung von Immobilien und Tennisparks “Vreugd & Rust” ihre Tore, und man konnte auf sechs wunderschönen Plätzen Tennis spielen, die auf dem Gelände lagen, das einst Prinzessin Mariannes Gemüsegarten war (die alten Mauern davon stehen noch immer). Prinzessin Marianne war die Tochter von König Willem I.
Der Park liegt zwischen jahrhundertealten Bäumen im gleichnamigen Voorburger Stadtpark Vreugd & Rust. Das Clubhaus wurde aus den Fundamenten des damaligen Gewächshauses erbaut, welches Teil des Gemüsegartens war. Die schmiedeeisernen Sparren und Glasstreben sind noch sichtbar. Dies ist auch der Grund, warum die Kantine zum Denkmal erklärt wurde.
