Jernbanetorget ist sowohl eine U-Bahn-Station der Osloer Metro als auch eine Straßenbahnstation der Osloer Straßenbahn. Die U-Bahn-Station befindet sich im Gemeinsamen Tunnel, der von allen Linien unter dem Stadtzentrum genutzt wird. Sie liegt zwischen Stortinget im Westen und Grønland im Osten. Bis zur Errichtung der Station am Stortinget war Jernbanetorget die Endstation der östlichen Linien in der Innenstadt. Zusammen mit dem Osloer Hauptbahnhof, dem Osloer Busbahnhof sowie der oberen Straßenbahn- und Bushaltestelle ist Jernbanetorget der größte Verkehrsknotenpunkt in Norwegen.
Alle sechs U-Bahn-Linien passieren die Station, was tagsüber insgesamt 24 Abfahrten pro Stunde ergibt. Die Station ist 0,5 Kilometer von Stortinget entfernt und liegt 5,2 Meter unter dem Meeresspiegel.
