Das Adam Mickiewicz-Theater wurde von 1902 bis 1909 mit 770 Sitzplätzen im Stil des Wiener Neobarocks in Teschen als Deutsches Theater in Teschen errichtet und 1910 mit einem Stück Grillparzers eröffnet. Obwohl die Initiatoren bestimmt hatten, dass niemals ein polnischsprachiges Stück aufgeführt werden sollte, verstieß man 1920 mit der Aufführung eines polnischen Stücks von Aleksander Fredro dagegen.
