Der Bober entspringt an der Boberská stráň bei Bobr in der Nähe von Žacléř im tschechischen Teil des Rehorngebirges, nur wenige hundert Meter von der polnischen Grenze entfernt. Er fließt dann insgesamt noch etwa 2,5 km auf tschechischem Gebiet, durch den Ort Bobr und dann weiter auf polnischer Seite etwa parallel zur Lausitzer Neiße durch Schlesien nach Norden und durchquert die Städte Jelenia Góra , Bolesławiec , Szprotawa und Żagań . Schließlich mündet er bei Krosno Odrzańskie in die Oder.
