Saint-Pierre und Miquelon ist ein französisches Überseegebiet . Die kleine Inselgruppe östlich der kanadischen Küste, etwa 25 Kilometer südlich von Neufundland, stellt das letzte Überbleibsel der französischen Kolonie Neufrankreich dar. Saint-Pierre und Miquelon hat 5997 Einwohner . Haupterwerbszweige der Französisch sprechenden Bevölkerung sind Fischerei und Tourismus. Die Hauptstadt heißt Saint-Pierre.
Die Inselgruppe besteht aus den Inseln Saint-Pierre , Miquelon-Langlade sowie weiteren kleineren Inseln und hat eine Gesamtfläche von 242 km². Früher waren die Inseln Miquelon und Langlade getrennt, heute sind sie über einen schmalen Isthmus verbunden.
