Der Dão ist ein rechter Nebenfluss des Mondego. Er fließt in der Region Mitte Portugals durch den Distrikt Viseu. Der Dão entspringt im Kreis Penalva do Castelo, fließt dann in südwestlicher Richtung und mündet oberhalb von Santa Comba Dão in den Stausee der Talsperre Aguieira.
Bei Ferreirós do Dão münden der Asnes und der Dinha in den Dão. Ungefähr fünf Kilometer östlich der Gemeinde Fragosela wird der Dão durch die Talsperre Fagilde zu einem Stausee aufgestaut.
