Die Capela dos Ossos ist eines der bekanntesten Denkmäler in Évora, Portugal. Es handelt sich um eine kleine Innenkapelle, die sich neben dem Eingang zur Kirche des Heiligen Franziskus befindet. Die Kapelle verdankt ihren Namen den mit menschlichen Schädeln und Knochen bedeckten und dekorierten Innenwänden. Die Capela dos Ossos wurde von Franziskaner-Mönchen erbaut. Schätzungsweise wurden 5.000 Leichname exhumiert, um die Wände der Kapelle zu dekorieren. Die Knochen, die von gewöhnlichen Menschen stammen, die in den mittelalterlichen Friedhöfen von Évora beigesetzt wurden, wurden von den Franziskanern in verschiedenen Mustern angeordnet.
