Dies ist eine der fünf verbleibenden der sieben Kapellen, die gebaut wurden.
Bereits in den ersten Jahrzehnten des 18. Jahrhunderts wurden die Kreuzwegzeremonien in Guimarães während der Fastenzeit von der Bruderschaft von Consolação und Sants Passos organisiert.
Aus diesem Grund wurden Kreuze in verschiedenen Teilen der Stadt verteilt und die Darstellung der verschiedenen Schritte der Passion Christi wurde von einer Figur aus Braga auf Leihbasis durchgeführt. Im Jahr 1726 begann die Bruderschaft, in verschiedenen Teilen der Stadt einen Kreuzweg aus Granit zu errichten, der aus sieben kleinen Kapellen voller lebensgroßer Figuren aus bemaltem Holz bestand.
