Gävle [ˈjɛːvlə] , früher Gefle, ist eine Stadt in der schwedischen historischen Provinz Gästrikland und Hauptstadt der Provinz Gävleborgs län.
Gävle liegt an der Mündung des Gavleåns in den bottnischen Meerbusen. Die Straßen der Stadt sind überwiegend rechtwinklig angelegt. Hemlingby und Strömsbro sind Stadtteile von Gävle.
