In der aus 13 Dörfern und Weilern bestehenden Gesamtgemeinde leben 11.285 Menschen. Der Hauptort Spodnje Hoče hat allein 2.705 Einwohner und liegt auf 278 m. Die Gemeinde befindet sich etwa 6,5 km südlich des Stadtzentrums von Maribor. Ihre östliche Hälfte liegt in der ebenen Landschaft des "Dravsko polje" , während die westliche Hälfte noch zu den Ausläufern des Pohorje zählt.
