Çankırı ist eine türkische Stadt in Anatolien. Sie ist die Provinzhauptstadt der gleichnamigen Provinz Çankırı und Sitz des zentralen Landkreises . Çankırı liegt etwa 125 Kilometer nordwestlich von Ankara und ist die größte Stadt der Provinz.
Der bevölkerungsreichste Landkreis der Provinz befindet sich im Südwestteil dieser und grenzt an die Kreise Eldivan und Korgun im Westen, an den Kreis Ilgaz im Norden, an den Kreis Yapraklı im Nordosten sowie den Kreis Kızılırmak im Südosten. Provinzüberschreitend hat der Kreis eine gemeinsame Grenze mit dem Landkreis Bayat der Provinz Çorum. Der Landkreis hat nach dem Kreis Eldivan die zweitniedrigste Bevölkerungsdichte.
