Bornova ist ein Landkreis der Provinz Izmir und gleichzeitig Stadtteil der Stadt Izmir in der Türkei. Nach einer Gebietsreform ist die Stadt einwohner- und flächenmäßig identisch mit dem Landkreis. Es ist einer der größeren Teile von Izmir, 8 Kilometer vom Stadtzentrum Izmir und 5 Kilometer von der Küste entfernt.
Bornova wurde früher Birunabad genannt. Im Persischen bedeutet birun außer, außen und mit abad ist eine islamische Stadt gemeint.
