Rohatyn ist eine Stadt im Westen der Ukraine mit etwa 8100 Einwohnern .
Rohatyn ist Verwaltungssitz des Rajons Rohatyn im Norden der Oblast Iwano-Frankiwsk.
Seit dem 10. Jahrhundert gab es in Rohatyn eine hölzerne Burganlage. 1184 wurde der Ort im Fürstentum Halitsch-Wolhynien erstmals schriftlich erwähnt. Zum Polen kam das Gebiet 1340. 1415 erhielt Rohatyn das Magdeburger Stadtrecht und entwickelte sich in der Folge zu einem wichtigen Handelszentrum.
Im 16. Jahrhundert entstand eine bedeutende Schule der Ikonenmalerei, in den 1580er Jahren wurde ein bedeutendes orthodoxes Kloster gegründet.
