Im Jahr 2008 gruben Arbeiter am Ground Zero und entdeckten ein riesiges Schlagloch. Dieses Schlagloch war im Grundgestein geformt und hatte nichts mit dem Gebäude oder dem Zusammenbruch des Gebäudes im Zusammenhang mit 9-11 zu tun. Die Ursache dieses riesigen Schlaglochs war ein Gletscher vor mehr als 10.000 Jahren. Die letzte Eiszeit begann vor etwa 120.000 Jahren. Der Gletscher war etwa 3 km dick und die Kante erreichte Manhattan. Als die Eiszeit vor etwa 20.000 Jahren zu Ende ging, fluteten riesige Mengen schmelzenden Wassers, die Trümmer mit sich führten, den Gletscher hinunter und trafen das Grundgestein. Dies erzeugt an bestimmten Stellen 'Gletschertöpfe' oder 'Riesenkochtöpfe'.
