Die Black Maria [blæk maˈɹiːa] war das erste kommerzielle Filmstudio der Welt. Es wurde im Jahr 1892 von dem Filmpionier William K. L. Dickson auf dem Gelände von Thomas Alva Edisons Laboratorien in West Orange, New Jersey, erbaut und diente von 1893 bis 1901 als Produktionsstätte für die Filme der Edison Manufacturing Company.
Die Filme aus dem Black-Maria-Studio zählen zu den ältesten Aufnahmen der Filmgeschichte. Die meist unter einer Minute langen Filme wurden zunächst in Kinetoskopen vermarktet, ab 1896 wurden die Filme auch auf Leinwand projiziert. Auf der kleinen Bühne der Black Maria wurden hauptsächlich Auftritte bekannter Zirkusartisten und Vaudeville-Künstler, einfache Szenen aus der Alltagswelt sowie kurze Ausschnitte aus Bühnenstücken gefilmt.
