Das Schloss wurde Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts im Stil Ludwigs XV. von der Familie von Wattenwyl errichtet. 1811 kaufte der Ratsherr Ludwig Zeerleder die Campagne, welche im Belper Volksmund bis heute Zeerlederstock genannt wird.
