The place is a typical village, but there are already some new settlements on the edge of the community. South of the village center flows the Purzelkamp, one of the tributaries to the Kamp River, in a westerly direction. When the local municipalities were formed in 1850, the place, along with Kaltenbrunn and Schafberg, formed an independent municipality. On January 1, 1967, the local municipalities of Grafenschlag and Kleinnondorf merged into the large municipality of Grafenschlag following a decision made on September 3, 1966. On January 1, 1970, the municipality of Langschlag as well as the single locations of Rammelhof and Marktmühle were added.
