Vorderhornbach, together with Hinterhornbach, is located in the Hornbachtal, a side valley of the Lechtal. Vorderhornbach is situated on the alluvial fan of the Hornbach. The village is focused on agriculture. A significant portion of the workforce is employed outside the municipal boundaries.
The village was first mentioned in 1218. Unlike Hinterhornbach, which was part of the jurisdiction of Ehrenberg, Vorderhornbach fell under the jurisdiction of Aschau, which meant it had relatively little interaction with the other places in the Lechtal.
