The Freizell Castle, also known as Freizeller Schlössel, Zellerschlössl or Zell near Marsbach, refers to a noble residence on the left bank of the Danube, near the Schlögener Loop. It is located on a hill, below the neighboring Marsbach Castle.
The history of the castle dates back to the late Middle Ages. Freizell was first mentioned in documents in 1443. Freizell was under the lordship of Passau. Until then owned by Ulrich von Starhemberg, it was thereafter in the possession of the Lords of Marsbach, with ownership changing several times in the following centuries.
