Het kasteel Freizell, ook wel Freizeller Schlössel, Zellerschlössl of Zell onder Marsbach genoemd, verwijst naar een adellijk verblijf aan de linkeroever van de Donau, niet ver van de Schlögener Slurf. Het ligt op een heuvel, onder het aangrenzende kasteel Marsbach.
De geschiedenis van het kasteel gaat terug tot de late middeleeuwen. In 1443 wordt Freizell voor het eerst schriftelijk vermeld. Freizell stond onder het leengezag van Passau. Tot dan toe in bezit van Ulrich van Starhemberg, stond het voortaan in bezit van de heren van Marsbach, waarvan de eigendomsverhoudingen in de daaropvolgende eeuwen meerdere keren veranderden.
