St. Petersberg Castle is a hilltop castle on a hill above the Inn Valley west of Silz in Tyrol. Scattered around the castle hill are some houses that form the hamlet of St. Petersberg, a district of Silz. The castle is the center of the Engelwerk. At an elevation of 730 meters, just 70 meters above the valley floor of the Inn, the former count's castle St. Petersberg is located on the right mountainside on a elongated rocky headland at a historic dam pond. Nevertheless, Petersberg is quick and easy to reach from the valley while still being very defensible. The slopes of the castle hill have been smoothed by glaciers, making it difficult for an attacker to find any footing here. Nearby there is a productive spring and two mountain streams that have been feeding an artificially created lake since the early Middle Ages.
