Landshut European Lodge

The Landshut European Hut is a refuge jointly managed by the Landshut section of the DAV and the Sterzing section of the CAI. The hut is notable as the border between Austria and Italy runs precisely through the dining area.
The hut is located in the Tuxer ridge of the Zillertal Alps, southeast of the 2999 m high Kraxentrager at an altitude of 2693 m a.s.l., just below the 2713 m a.s.l. high Friedrichshöhe. It is therefore situated right on the main Alpine ridge, which here forms the boundary between the Austrian state of Tyrol to the north and the Italian South Tyrol to the south. The valley town in Austria is Venn, a hamlet of the municipality of Gries am Brenner near the Brenner Pass, while to the south lies the Pfitsch Valley, belonging to the municipality of Pfitsch.
