Alfuzalm – Steinseehütte

The Lechtal Alps are a popular destination for hikers due to their untouched nature. Starting from the Alfuzalm above Zams, this moderately difficult tour, which requires some conditioning with more than 1,000 meters of elevation gain, leads to the Steinsee hut and further to its namesake: the crystal-clear Steinsee. The mountain lake is located about 160 meters above the hut. The hut itself is situated on a small plateau amid green grassy slopes and offers a welcoming invitation to all guests who appreciate good, freshly cooked food and cozy accommodations.
The approach to the parking lot at the Alfuzalm is initially via the federal highway coming from Imst in a northeast direction to Zams near Landeck. Immediately after a short tunnel, turn left through a highway underpass to the gravel works. From there, drive 4.3 kilometers uphill to the parking lot Alfuzhütte/Alfuzalm. Now the hike begins through the Starkenbachtal on a forest path. Always follow the Starkenbach until the route branches off to the right towards the Steinsee hut a few meters before the Hinterstarkalpe at an altitude of 1,600 meters. Now, it goes steeper uphill below the material cable car of the Steinsee hut along the small Steinseebach until the hut at approximately 2,060 meters altitude. To the right of the hut, a path leads about 45 minutes up to the Steinsee. Return via the same route.
