Two-Day Trek: Grän - Füssener Jöchl - Tannheimer Hütte - Höfen

From a scenic gondola ride up to the lovely Tannheimer Hütte hut to lush alpine meadows and the dramatically steep Nesselwängler Scharte ridge, what more could you ask for in one trip? This two-day trek is moderate to difficult and offers many natural highlights along the way. It begins with a challenging climb up to a high ridge with spectacular views of the Allgäu and Lechtal Alps as well as the Main Alpine Ridge.

After staying the night in the Tannheimer Hütte (1,760 metres), hikers continue onto the Hahnenkamm peak above Reutte overlooking the Tannheimer Tal Valley with its picturesque Haldensee lake. Visible from afar is the craggy 2,173-metre-high Gimpel. From the Hahnenkamm (1,740 metres), hikers take the cable car down to Höfen (868 metres) and then the bus to Reutte (853 metres) before returning to the starting point in Grän.

This is a challenging trek demanding surefootedness and a good head for heights. Several of the steep uphill sections have steel ropes anchored to the rock for additional safety.
