Description by the author

This circular ride passes the Haldensee lake twice and include a number of steep climbs on the slopes of the Krinnenspitze mountain – but the view at the top makes it all worthwhile. The second third of the ride is particularly tough as bikers wind their way up along a series of switchbacks to the Edenalpe. Riders wishing to take on this challenge need good overall fitness and should have good bike-handling skills both uphill and downhill on steep terrain. Fabulous views of the Tannheimer Tal Valley await.
This ride begins in the centre of Tannheim and first heads north before continuing east on asphalt towards Innergschwend. After a short stretch on the main road, the trail turns left takes a series of gravel paths above the Haldensee lake towards Nesselwängle. From there, the trail continues slightly downhill to the main road. The tarmac is only used for a short time before ride continues parallel to the road heading towards Rauth. After passing a small farm, the road changes to gravel and begins to climb. Now you have to ascend about 400 vertical metres at a gradient of up to 14% along three large hairpin bends. The wonderful view towards the Gaichtspitze is worth all that effort. Via the "Meraner Steig" the trail continues along a section that is narrow and sloping in places towards the top of the Krinnenalpe chairlift. Here, the Shared Trail Almboden merges from the left, but it is too steep for bikers to climb to Edenalpe. If you nevertheless want to go to Edenalpe, continue for a few more metres before taking the forest road to the left and climbing up to this alpine pasture (200 vertical metres of climbing extra). The route leads downhill along the same path to the Haldensee lake, then along the southern shore of the lake. Here you must cross the main road again before returning via Innergschwend to Tannheim.
