The House Ryhove has a beautiful garden. The garden is surrounded by a remarkable low wall with grass on top.
Observant spectators will notice that the garden is split in four parts. These four parts represent the 4 seasons. The garden is a copy of a 16th century Flemish garden. Old paintings were used to reconstruct the garden. At that time, it was not the intention that one would walk in the garden. Ladies stayed most of the time indoors. The garden was only to be looked at from the window on the first and second floor.
Only occasionly, the ladies went to the garden, to enjoy the sun. For that reason, there is a low wall around the garden with grass on top. This is more comfortable to sit on.
The garden is accessible for the public, and you can try the comfy seats yourself.
