View of the lakes of the river Mark. The Mark is a tributary of the Dender that rises in the forest on the border between the Hainaut municipalities of Opzullik and Enghien, then flows through the Flemish Brabant municipalities of Herne and Galmaarden and the East Flemish Viane (Geraardsbergen) to flow into the Dender in Hainaut Twee-Akren (Lessen). The name Mark also indicates that the river flows through an old border area (Gothic marka means: a border, a limit). The village of Mark near Enghien is also named after the river.
