The Mark flows from east to west through the southern part of Galmaarden. It is the main watercourse of Zuid-Pajottenland, about 26 km long, strongly branched and unnavigable. It is a tributary of the Dender.
The Mark rises at about 80 meters above sea level in the Bois d'Enghien on the territory of Marcq (Mark) in the province of Hainaut. A bed of approx. 3.7 km is located on Galmaarden.
Of the eight remaining watermills on the Mark, 1 are on the territory of Galmaarden, namely the Gemelingenmolen (also called "Driscartmolen" after the former owners) and 2 on the territory of Tollembeek. Heetveldemolen and the Wielantmolen.
