Saint Anne's Church

The St. Anna Church was built between 1641 and 1663 in baroque style to accommodate the numerous pilgrims for the too small local St. Anna Chapel. The upper part of the tower from 1873, designed by architect Théophile Bureau, contains a clock and bell chamber. Brick and Balegem stone were used as building materials. Its 17th-century baroque interior has been preserved. It includes a church organ built by Pieter Van Peteghem, a 15th-century gothic holy water font, and a 17th-century main altar with an antependium of Saint Anna.

Above the entrance door stands a statue of Saint Anna, between two volutes. The niche in which she stands is decorated with a shell motif. Surrounding the church is a St. Anna procession that consists of the St. Anna Chapel in the village square and nine chapels. The procession takes place every year on July 26, the feast day of Anna, or the Sunday after.
