At the top of the hill, you find yourself 53 m above sea level, as high as that of Tiegemkerk. Together with the hill of Tiegem village, they are two prominent hilltops of the main ridge with Tiegemberg, Anzegem village, and Gijzelbrechtegem. It is no coincidence that the Romans had a Castrum or military camp here. In fact, the name of the municipality is derived from this. The view is breathtaking: the entire Scheldt valley from Avelgem to Oudenaarde. The only downside is the steaming cooling towers of the Ruien power plant. The classical St. Peter's Church of Kaster was completed in 1819.
