The area has a surface of approximately 420 hectares and stretches to the southeast of Bruges. It mainly consists of large grassland complexes, bordered by pollarded trees and divided by tall tree avenues. The old railway bed Brugge-Eeklo and the former tram line from Ver-Assebroek to Oedelem and Knesselare provide recreational access for cyclists and walkers. The drainage is ensured by the Sint-Trudoledeken, the Main Ditch, the Mazelbeek, and numerous drainage ditches.
