This villa was built around 1910 for the Thienpont family, who lived a little further down at Hof te Cattebeke. Painter Valerius De Saedeleer lived in this villa from 1921 to 1937. De Saedeleer named the house "Villa Tynlon," referring to his home in Wales during World War I. From here, De Saedeleer had a beautiful view over the landscape. In many of his works from his Etikhoofse period, we find recognizable elements, such as the former inn "Belle Vue," located slightly lower on the Onderbossenaarstraat. In "Landscape after the storm" from 1922, he painted - easily recognizable - the farm and the street bend directly opposite his villa.
In 1937, Valerius left Villa Tynlon. His beloved wife 'Clemmeke' had passed away in 1930, a loss he would never fully recover from. He moved in with his daughter Maria in Leupegem.
After Valerius' departure, the villa was occupied by another daughter of De Saedeleer: Marie-Jozef, along with her husband Leo Piron (also a painter) and their son Antoon. They lived there until 1948.
In the front garden of the villa is the artwork "Disorientating a floor" (2005) by artist Tim Volckaert.
