Puttenhove Castle is a castle in the municipality of Ghent, Sint-Denijs-Westrem, located at Putstraat 26-30.The castle was first mentioned in 1438 as a fief of the Sint-Pietersabdij in Ghent. It is claimed that King Philip II of Spain stayed here in 1549. In 1578 the castle was destroyed by the beggars. It was rebuilt, but in 1708 it was again destroyed by the troops of Louis XIV, when they besieged Ghent. In 1730 there was a dilapidated castle that was moated and also had a neerhof. The castle was owned by the Trieste family for a long time in the 18th century.
