On a small median strip of the Beervelde-Dorp road, north of the parish church of Saint Daniel, there is a growing plane tree that was planted here in 1831 as a liberty tree in response to the Belgian Independence. This 18-meter tall plane tree has a trunk circumference of 3.80 meters and constitutes a defining element in the street.
