The Han Caves form a system of underground caves in Han-sur-Lesse near Rochefort, located on the Lesse River in the Belgian Ardennes. The whole complex is known as one of the largest cave complexes in Europe.
A small part of the caves is accessible to the public for a fee, attracting half a million visitors each year. Since 1906, there has been a historic tram line that takes visitors from the center of Han to the entrance of the caves. From the entrance of the caves, there is a route of about two kilometers that can be walked (duration approximately one and a half hours) and during which a guide provides explanations. This route has 436 ascending and descending stairs and leads visitors through several "rooms," such as the "Mysterious," the "Weapon Room," and the "Dome Room." At the end of the visit, the visitors take a boat to go out.
