The Wijnendalebos is a very old forest area that must have been thousands of hectares large in the Middle Ages. The current area is about 180 hectares. Half of it is accessible to the public, the other half is used for scientific research. You enter the Wijnendalebos along the concrete Fonteinpad. This path introduces you to the Onze-Lieve-Vrouw chapel, which is surrounded by numerous legends. A few steps further, you will find the authentic ice cellar of the estate.
