The St. Walburga Church in Veurne originated from a count's parish chapel and was initially converted into a Romanesque church dedicated to Our Lady. Perhaps in the 10th century, the church received the relics of St. Walburga, which led to the name changing around 1100 to St. Walburga Church. The church had a chapter with thirty canons. Between the 13th and 14th centuries, the church was destroyed by a fire and was rebuilt in early Gothic style. The church was completed in the early 20th century with side aisles and a short nave, according to plans by architect Van Ascche from Ghent. In the summer, organ concerts are held on the organ.
