The Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Bezoekingskerk is the parish church of the village of Lissewege, which belongs to the West Flanders municipality of Bruges, located at Onder de Toren.
Even before 1119, there was mention of a Lissewege parish, which also included the area of present-day Knokke, Heist, and Zeebrugge. The tithe and patronage rights were held by the Abbey of Saint Bertin in Saint-Omer. By 1119, there was already mention of a Romanesque structure, of which some natural stone can still be found in the outer wall of the choir of the current church.
