The Sûre is primarily a matter of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, but it springs up in Belgium, a little west of Vaux-sur-Sûre, in the province of Luxembourg, approximately halfway between Neufchâteau and Bastogne. Near the village of Sûre, the river turns south and southeast, but from Witry, it flows directly east past picturesque spots like Fauvillers, Radelange, and Wisembach. It eventually reaches Martelange and crosses the border into the Grand Duchy amid beautiful natural scenery. After a course of 165 km, the Sûre flows into the Moselle at Wasserbillig, a well-known tributary of the Rhine.
In the area you will be walking, the Sûre is fed by a number of gems of tributary streams: the Grande and the Petite Molscht, the Ruisseau de Guemonce, the Ruisseau d'Entre le Bois, and the Revaru, which together provide clear water to the Surbich, a tributary of the Sûre.
