During the corona pandemic, the tourist life in Brussels came to a complete standstill. Souvenir shops and restaurants closed their doors. Among the cobblestones of the Grand Place, grass blades waved again. However, the pandemic had no impact on the desolate Place du Espagne. It is always very quiet there, but not exactly inviting. Apart from the stone steps, there are no benches provided. The bare cobblestone expanse on top of the underground parking garage is surrounded by tall back facades of nearby hotels. There is nothing to experience on the ground floor. The passing stranger feels abandoned and disoriented. Fortunately, Don Quixote and Sancho Panza point the way to the Grand Place.
