The Black Water is a classified landscape with marsh and riparian vegetation as well as pine forest. The reserve has a lush vegetation. For example, cinquefoil, sedge, gale, heath, water lily, broadleaf wasp orchid and even cranberry, mouse ear and heather cartel leaf can be found here.
The reserve is also an important breeding ground for birds. We can find dodaars, crested, teal, slobber and reed bunting.
