Did you know that there was a plan to make the mini-state of Neutral Moresnet the world's first Esperanto state? There was a plan to provide shelter here for the Central Bureau of the Esperanto movement. The mini-state had a collection of nationalities and languages. So it was generally considered a good idea, as the Esperanto language would give them a uniqueness as a state. Even the company Vieille Montagne supported this idea, as they saw an opportunity to safeguard the existence of the neutral state (with all its benefits for Vieille Montagne). The little state even received a new name in Esperanto: Amikejo, which means "place of friends." Classes were organized for the population. Schoolchildren also received Esperanto lessons.
