Tervuren

Tervuren is home to the Royal Museum for Central Africa with a pond park, the former hunting domain of the Dukes of Brabant near the Sonian Forest. The river Voer flows through Tervuren, to which the municipality owes its name.

There are also some places of interest in Tervuren:
The Church of St. John the Evangelist built in the thirteenth century. The lack of a tower is remarkable, in 1777 it was demolished for stability reasons.
In the park of the Royal Museum for Central Africa stands the thickest giant sequoia in Flanders.
The Geographical Arboretum, about 100 ha. was built by King Leopold II in 1902. The trees are not ordered by genus, but by natural environment. It is now a beautiful piece of nature in the Sonian Forest.
