The Aphrodite statue by artist Ch. Leroy. The Prince Karellaan, at the end of the Emile Verhaerenlaan, is the result of a contract between the "Het Zoute" Company and Joseph Stubben, the German architect of Leopold II. The agreement stipulated: dunes are to be preserved with unevenness and pans, many walking paths with shelter against the prevailing wind, street plans with broken and curved lines in contrast to the strict and straight patterns. The houses were built in the 1920s-1930s in English Cottage style. This is characterized by half-timbering, plastering, impressive roof volumes, irregular facades with heavy lettering and monumental chimneys.
