This neighborhood - a piece of Duinbergen - was part of the subdivision (1920) at Albertstrand of the 'Société Immobilière Knocke Balnéaire' led by Jozef Nellens (1880-1934). A remnant of the biotope of what was originally a dune area can be found in Park 58 (freely accessible), established in 1959.
Across the road lies the Duinbergen concession, designed in 1901 by the German architect - urban planner Joseph Stübben (1845-1936) on the territory of the then Heist, who also designed a number of projects for Leopold II. Stübben preserved the undulating dune landscape in his urban planning project.
You can enter the concession via one of the smaller avenues and then follow the paths through to Heist between Elisabetlaan and Nellenslaan/Duinendreef.
