Heem- en Geschiedeniskundig Museum Jan Broeckaert

The museum is located on the ground floor of the town hall on the Markt. It is named after Jan Broeckaert, a Wetteraar who was, among other things, municipal secretary, clerk at the Court of First Instance in Dendermonde and member of the Flemish Academy. It has a nice collection of artisanal equipment, old clothing and devotee material. Worth a visit are the rural inn, the farm kitchen and the village class. The showpiece is the old interior of the Maudens pharmacy from the Van Cromphoutstraat. Scientifically important are the body vases that were found in a prehistoric cemetery in the borough of Massemen. Finally, the museum has also built up extensive documentation about the association life and the private collection of Albert Van de Velde about the two World Wars can be admired.
