The Bosberg is a term in the cycling world. Many spectacular cycling performances have taken place here, especially during earlier editions of the Tour of Flanders. Edwig Van Hooydonck made his decisive attack here in both 1989 and 1991 — according to tradition, at exactly the same spot, next to the same lamppost. Johan Museeuw made the Muur–Bosberg combination his territory, with the crowd crescendoing as he flew in alone. In 1999, Museeuw and Van Petegem rode there as leaders, while Frank Vandenbroucke spectacularly closed in on the Muur of Geraardsbergen, thus coloring a mythical finale.
