The painting of Gust De Smet consists of a unique blend of expressionism and cubism, captured in a very personal color palette. He lived and worked in Deurle, a district of Sint-Martens-Latem. His modest house is now a museum. The route (6.5Km) starts in the picturesque village center of Deurle and takes us along the Cyriel Buysse path to the most beautiful spots in Deurle, passing several museums such as Gust De Smet, Dhondt-Dhaenens (MDD), and Gevaert-Minne, through the beautiful Red Beech Avenue and along forest paths like the Kapitteldreef. Along the route, there are information boards with explanations about the site, the artists, and their work.
