These buildings used to be the Bavegem slaughterhouse. The slaughterhouse dates back to 1862. A few years ago, the Fonck-Dehennin slaughterhouse and its 300 employees were closed down after a ruling by the Dendermonde criminal court for a whole series of urban planning and environmental violations, such as dumping in the Molenbeek.
